Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan is confident that new signing Kris Boyd’s scan on his injured foot will reveal that the damage is minimal.

The 26-year-old striker, who signed for Boro from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers this summer, limped off less than half an hour into their 3-0 friendly victory over Bray Wanderers in Ireland.

"It's just a kick - a sore one though." Strachan confirmed on the club’s official website.

Boro will now head back to Teesside to rest before embarking on the next phase of their pre-season regime in Germany.
