Gordan Strachan backs Kris Boyd to score goals for Middlesbrough
Boro boss sure SPL record scorer will come good in Championship...
By Eliot Rothwell
Gordon Strachan remains confident that new Middlesbrough signing Kris Boyd will fulfil his scoring potential in the Championship.
Boyd, who overtook Henrik Larsson as the highest Scottish Premier League scorer with 164 goals, is a major coup for the Wearside club according to ex-Celtic boss Strachan.
"The chairman has done well and the club has done well to get Kris," he said.
"We know all about Kris and what he can do. Of course the fans are going to be excited. Kris is not a dribbler or a flamboyant player but he is the type of footballer who can score lots of goals.
"We like what we see of Kris and we think he will fit in well here. The only point he wants to prove is to do well for his team-mates and manager and he will do that by working hard for the team."
Boyd was officially unveiled as a Middlesbrough player on Wednesday evening, signing a two-year contract after deciding to end his successful spell at Scottish giants Rangers.
