Jesus, 19, signed a five-year deal with City in the summer but was allowed to finish the league campaign with boyhood club Palmeiras.

The Brazilian club were crowned champions on Sunday and, with the final round of fixtures postponed as a mark of respect to tragic club Chapocoense, Jesus has been jetted into Manchester for the weekend so that he can get to grips with his new surroundings.

The youngster, who also won Olympic gold with Brazil in the summer and has scored five goals in six appearances in World Cup qualifiers, will be shown around City's training ground and meet his future team-mates on Friday.

He will then visit the Etihad Stadium for City's Premier League encounter with Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime, before returning to Brazil on Sunday.

Jesus will only make the permanent move to Manchester in early January, after completing the Brazilian domestic season with Palmeiras and spending Christmas with his family in Sao Paulo.

Jesus has travelled to Manchester with his brother and some friends, though his mother will make the move with him in the New Year in a bid to ensure that he settles in a new country.

Both Barcelona and Manchester United were said to be keen on signing Jesus in the summer but he chose City following a personal phone call from Pep Guardiola.
