Wayne Rooney will not be present for Manchester United's weekend Premier League clash against Everton after picking up a yellow card for dissent against West Ham.
The England captain began his career at Goodison Park, where he debuted as a 16-year-old before moving to United in 2004.
But he will miss out on the latest homecoming due to a booking in the second half of Wednesday's EFL Cup encounter.
Rooney talked himself into the book following a clash with Edmilson Fernandes shortly after the beginning of the second half, which was his fifth of the season.
He will therefore be suspended for Sunday's visit to Merseyside, where United need a win to stay in touch with Premier League pace-setters Chelsea.
