Comparisons between the pair's combative style in leading the line for Manchester United have been made, but the former Arsenal man has dismissed the similarities
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not capable of dealing with the physical nature of the Premier League as well as Manchester United great Eric Cantona, according to Emmanuel Petit.
The striker started the season with four goals in his opening three games but is currently on a run of one in his last nine outings, coming against Zorya in the Europa League.
Comparisons have been drawn between Ibrahimovic and Cantona and their combative styles leading the line at Old Trafford, but Petit, who played with the latter for the France national team, has dismissed the similarities.
"When people say Ibrahimovic is like Cantona ... he's not at all, not at all, at all," said on SFR Sport. "'Canto', if he wanted to kick you in the head, he would do it. If he lost it, he would do it.
"Cantona was strong in the face of strong opponents, he stood up to them. Ibra, when you start to get at him in a match... I've seen the batterings he's taken in England, even if he replies sometimes.
"Yes, he has character and personality, but don't say 'Ibra' is like 'Canto'. He isn't at all."
Ibrahimovic is expected to be dropped by Jose Mourinho by their clash with Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday.
