The Portuguese was unable to keep a straight face during a charity joke battle with comedian John Bishop
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho may not have cracked too many smiles at Anfield on Monday night, but he was crying with laughter at a recent event which formed part of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
The Portuguese, a man who has perfected the art of looking surly on the sidelines down the years, was asked to take part in a joke-off with comedian John Bishop – with the idea being to keep a straight face for as long as possible.
Things started off positively for Mourinho, as he safely negotiated quips from Liverpool-supporting Bishop.
It was, however, to be one of his own gags that proved his undoing, with the Red Devils manager left in stitches as he struggled to get his words out.
He did eventually manage to deliver the punchline, but the contest was long over by then.
While happy to show his lighter side for a good cause, the Red Devils’ fixture list means that Mourinho will have to get his game face back on sharpish – with a Europa League clash with Fenerbahce on Thursday followed by a reunion with former employers Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
