The Blues confirmed a deal had been agreed with Barcelona for the transfer of the former Arsenal star for a reported fee of £30 million on Thursday.
And Cech moved to hail the playmaker ahead of his imminent move to Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Cech said: “He’s a great player with a lot of experience of playing in England and the Premier League so it’s a great addition to the team.”
Fabregas spent eight years under Arsene Wenger's tutelage but revealed in an open letter on his Facebook page that the Gunners refused to take up their first option on him.
And ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry took to Twitter to congratulate his former team-mate on his move, writing: "Congrats Cescky. Shame it wasn't the red part of North London but I wish you the best."
