The playmaker returned for Arsenal's final four games of the season - which included a 3-0 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium - and is in line to start at Wembley on Saturday.
"I have spoken with Mesut since his move - and he chose Arsenal because the belief they showed in him and because he believed he would be successful there," Lahm told Goal.
"He is a player who is motivated by success - and he is desperate to win trophies. For him to win one in his first season with Arsenal would be a big achievement."
Both players feature in Joachim Low's Germany squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil, and Lahm admits he has a soft spot for Arsenal thanks to the small band of his compatriots who play for the club.
"I do want to see Arsenal do well in England because, with Per [Mertesacker], Lukas [Podolski] and Mesut all playing there, I have some good friends," he added. "They are three very big players for the German national team - and Arsenal are fortunate to have such quality."
