Chelsea: 2013-14 season in statistics

Jose Mourinho's men looked like they would take the title race to the wire before falling away and the Blues boss will demand improvement as Goal looks at the key statistics
Chelsea were never realistic title contenders, if you believed Jose Mourinho, but inside the Blues boss must be frustrated that his side didn't push Manchester City closer.

Defensively, having conceded just 27 goals, the west Londoners were the most impressive performers in the league but with an average possession figure of 55%, they struggled to dominate games and were far more effective on the counter.

That said, the side who finished third in the table still managed 511 total shots over the 38-game season, a decent average of 13.4 per game, with 71 goals scored - ranking them third behind City and Liverpool respectively.
