There are three Brazilians in our best newcomers XI from 2013-14 while Swansea's record signing Wilfried Bony leads the line and Christian Eriksen and Jesus Navas also feature

With the 2013-14 Premier League season drawing to a close, the Professional Footballers Association will name its Team of the Season along with the individual awards for Player and Young Player of the Year on Sunday.

Ahead of that announcement, Goal has picked its own XI of the best newcomers to have graced the top flight this year.

GOALKEEPER

Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall has certainly enjoyed a busy season in his first campaign in the Premier League and despite conceding 65 goals has made more saves (143) than any other goalkeeper in the top flight.

It is not just the quantity of saves that have caught the eye though, a superb late stop from Shane Long in December ensured his side kept hold of three precious points, while he denied Oussama Assaidi brilliantly in stoppage time on Saturday to ensure another vital point against Stoke City.

His form has certainly captured the attention of the rest of the Premier League, with Liverpool the latest club to be linked with a move for the 29-year-old, and he looks destined to remain in the division, even if Cardiff drop out.

DEFENCE

At full-back Leandro Bacuna has quickly adjusted to life in the Premier League with Aston Villa after moving from FC Groningen and has already scored five goals this season for his side, an excellent return for a full-back.

The Dutch youngster has missed just three games for Paul Lambert's men and is something of a lucky charm, in each of the four games at Villa Park when he has scored, the Villans have gone on to claim all three points.

Southampton have won plenty of plaudits this season and Dejan Lovren has played a key role for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since signing from Lyon in June.

Calm on the ball he boasts a passing accuracy rate of 90 per cent in his own half and has conceded just 24 fouls in 28 Premier League appearances.

Lovren has also popped up with some important goals, including the winner at Anfield against Liverpool back in September and a late goal at Old Trafford to deny Manchester United victory and secure a 1-1 draw for the Saints.

Mamadou Sakho is a player who has certainly divided opinion since arriving at Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain for £15 million back in September.

While he has not been a regular for the Reds, Sakho has made 16 Premier League appearances in his first season in England, and can boast some impressive statistics, particularly for a debut campaign.

Sakho has a tackle success rate of 91% and a passing accuracy rate of 92% and while his positioning has looked suspect at times, he looks likely to end the season with a Premier League winner's medal.

Completing the defence at left-back is Erik Pieters, signed from PSV Eindhoven for just £3m. The Dutchman has been a virtual ever-present for Stoke City in the Premier League and has even managed his first club goal for six years for the Potters, albeit a fortunate effort against Newcastle that sealed a 1-0 win.

MIDFIELD

Paulinho arrived at Tottenham from Corinthians in July 2013 as part of Spurs’ massive summer spending spree, that also saw the likes of Erik Lamela, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli and Roberto Soldado arrive at White Hart Lane.

The Brazilian began the season strongly scoring his first Spurs goal, a stoppage-time winner against Cardiff in September, before going on to add four more goals and three assists for the north Londoners.

Strong in possession the midfielder has an impressive passing accuracy rate of 88% and a 83% tackle success rate, conceding just 29 fouls in 27 games.

The Tottenham man is joined in midfield by Fernandinho who moved to Manchester City from Shakhtar Donetsk and has quickly established himself as a vital part of Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The 28-year-old has brought added steel to the City midfield and also freed up Yaya Toure who has enjoyed a prolific Premier League campaign scoring 18 times in the league, twice more than striker Sergio Aguero.

Fernandinho has also managed to get on the scoresheet himself, most notably scoring twice as Pellegrini's men despatched Arsenal 6-3, in a very impressive first season on English soil.

Out wide Jesus Navas has proven an astute buy from Sevilla, adding pace to the Manchester City flank. In 18 starts he has created 40 chances, managed eight assists and scored four times.

The final Brazilian in our team is Willian who looked set to join Tottenham in the summer after completing a medical at White Hart Lane, before opting to switch to Chelsea in a £30m deal.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has worked hard to impress Jose Mourinho and has brought a balance to Chelsea.

Brilliant in possession and with a tenacious willingness to defend that you would perhaps not expect, he has also created 58 chances from 17 appearances and completed 34 dribbles, although he readily admits he need to improve his goalscoring rate having managed just three in the league this season.

One man who did make the move to Tottenham was the highly rated and in-demand Christian Eriksen who arrived from Ajax and has arguably been the pick of their summer signings.

The Denmark international has certainly improved as the season has progressed, in 20 Premier League starts he has managed seven goals and eight assists but also created 59 chances.

ATTACK

Completing our line-up is Wilfried Bony who became Swansea City's club record signing when he moved to the Liberty Stadium in July for £12 million from Vitesse.

The Eredivisie's top scorer has continued his goalscoring exploits in the Premier League with 13 goals in his debut season, outscoring the likes of Robin van Persie, Edin Dzeko and Emmanuel Adebayor, an impressive return in a struggling Swansea side that has also spent large chunks of the season without talisman Michu.

Bony was also the man to knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup in the fourth round with a 90th minute goal at Old Trafford that secured a 2-1 win for his side.
