The Canaries manager was reportedly set to lose his job had his side suffered defeat to Spurs on Sunday, but the former Newcastle boss insists his squad is focused on survivalChris Hughton praised his players after Norwich claimed only their second win in 14 matches in all competitions against Tottenham.
Newspaper reports on Sunday claimed Hughton would be sacked if the Canaries suffered defeat to Spurs, but Robert Snodgrass sealed the win with a goal in the second half.
Hughton sidestepped rumours about his future after the game, instead insisting his squad is focused on the securing Premier League survival.
“One thing I can guarantee is everyone here is pulling in the right direction," Hughton told reporters. "We’re getting into that vital part of the season where every result seems to be a big result.
"As manager of this football club you have to deal with the highs and lows and get on with your job, which is to get the best results that you can.
“We’ve got a really good group of players here that work hard each week. They feel it when we lost and are as frustrated with anybody.
"They care and are desperate to ensure that they are Premier League players and good Premier League players come next season. I think every single one of them on that pitch showed that today."
