Wayne Rooney has signed a new contract with Manchester United, finally putting to bed rumours of a summer exit and providing a degree of security to the struggling Premier League champions.
Chelsea had two bids for Rooney rejected last summer but United but the forward remained at Old Trafford after David Moyes convinced the 28-year-old to be a part of his United revolution.
But life at Old Trafford has not been rosy this campaign with the Premier League champions currently occupying seventh in the table, trailing leaders Chelsea by 15 points.
Despite missing a number of fixtures through injury, Rooney has netted 11 goals in 28 appearances this season and has been one of the few shining lights in a difficult maiden campaign under Moyes.
Widespread reports have suggested the striker's new contract - which runs until June 2019 - is worth £300,000 per week.
But is such a mammoth deal value for money?
So what do you think? Is this a wise move from United? Is it essential that they keep hold of the likes of Rooney? Or do you think it's time to cut him loose and let Moyes rebuild?
