Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has announced that this season will be his last at Old Trafford.
The Serbian will leave the club in the summer, prompting yet more change, with the Red Devils in need of a new permanent skipper.
Striker Wayne Rooney has been handed the armband frequently this season and has responded with some superb performances but should he be Vidic's replacement?
The England international's previous announcements that he wishes to leave the club as well as his refusal to commit his future to United has angered some fans so should he be the man to replace Vidic?
Another contender is defender Jonny Evans, who is likely to replace Vidic permanently in the team and has been impressive this season. The Red Devils have a win ratio of 74 per cent when Evans is in the team, which drops to just 56% when he is omitted.
Michael Carrick is another key component of the United side, however the Englishman is often characterised as being too laid-back to be a leader, unlike fellow midfielder Darren Fletcher, although his recent fitness issues suggest that he is unlikely to feature in every game for the Red Devils.
Other contenders include Robin van Persie and new signing Juan Mata, while Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra cannot be discounted - although, like Vidic, they may also choose or be forced to leave Old Trafford this season.
So who do you think should take over the armband at Old Trafford? Is Rooney the man to lead the team out? Should Evans be given the responsibility or maybe Carrick or Fletcher?
