thumbnail Hello,

The 26-year-old has suffered knee ligament damage and will spend two months on the sidelines after being hurt in Manchester City's 2-0 win over Newcastle

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has confirmed he will be out of action for eight weeks after being stretchered off during the club's 2-0 win over Newcastle at St James' Park.

The Frenchman took to Twitter to reveal his news, saying: "Thank you everyone for your kind words and overwhelming support, i suppose its kind of good news that i will be out around 8 weeks."

Nasri was hurt in a challenge with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and manager Manuel Pellegrini admitted after the game that it looked like a severe injury and claimed the Newcastle defender should have been sent off for the foul.

“It's very serious because I think it was a very unfair kick from the player of Newcastle it was directly red card. I don’t understand why he [Yanga-Mbiwa] wasn’t sent off," he told reporters.

“Samir Nasri has a problem with his medial ligaments, we’ll see tomorrow how serious, but I don’t think it’s a nice thing, I think it’s serious.”

City went on to win the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo with the victory sending them back to the top of the table.

However, the goal was not without incident with Newcastle having a goal controversially ruled out for offside and manager Alan Pardew forced to apologise for Manuel Pellegrini for his comments directed at the Chilean.

The news will come as a blow to the league-leaders, however, with Nasri the only player in the squad to have featured in every Premier League game for City so far this season.
