thumbnail Hello,

Manuel Pellegrini's men have been formidable at home and have overcome their early wobbles on the road to go unbeaten away from the Etihad Stadium since November 10

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis believes his team-mates are now more confident on the road in the Premier League.

Manuel Pellegrini's side won only one of their opening six league fixtures on the road but but have not lost away from the Etihad Stadium in the league since November 10.

Their latest away win came on Sunday at Newcastle United and Demichelis feels the 2-0 victory demonstrated improvements his side have made since the early weeks of the campaign.

"At the beginning of the season, we didn't feel that comfortable and we were trying to get to know each other," he told the club's official website.

"We lost because of minimal details but today we were lucky on those details.

"The players are getting to know each other more and we really feel confident playing away now."

The clash at St James' Park had its fair share of controversy, with Cheikh Tiote's effort ruled out for offside in the first half, leading to a heated exchange on the touchline between Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and his counterpart Pellegrini.

Demichelis refused to comment on the decision to rule out Tiote's strike but felt City deserved more credit than they were given for the win.

"I understand the frustrations but people were maybe more focused on the referee rather than us," he explained.

"We had to keep focus and keep the intensity and that's what we did."
