Pochettino unaware of interest in Lambert

The Saints striker has been linked with a move to West Ham but the Argentine insists he has heard nothing about the potential departure of a cult figure at St Mary's
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he is unaware of the news that Rickie Lambert may depart the club in January.

Goal exclusively revealed back in September that the Saints were prepared to sell the England international as Pochettino looks to build the team around Dani Osvaldo and there have been fresh suggestions in recent days that West Ham would look to exploit that by making a bid.

The Argentine was asked whether there was any substance to the rumours about his striker's future afrer the 3-0 loss to Chelsea but he seemed coy on the matter.

He told reporters: "I know nothing about the possible exit of [Rickie] Lambert but it is January.

"There are a lot of rumours as the transfer window is opening and it's only going to be normal for these rumours to come out."

The Saints manager also refuted the idea of a move for Cagliari central defender Davide Astori, by claiming "there was never any interest" in the Italian.
