Southampton's mounting injury list concerns Pochettino

With Victor Wanyama, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw and Artur Boruc all absent, the Saints have taken just two points from a possible 18 to see them drop from third place to ninth
Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is concerned that injuries may derail the team's good start to the Premier League season.

A 3-2 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday extended Southampton's winless run to six matches, having taken two points from a possible 18.

That dip in form has seen Southampton concede 13 goals and drop from third to ninth in the table - with Victor Wanyama, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw and Artur Boruc all unavailable - and Pochettino says performances are suffering.

"We're going through a very tough time at the moment," he told reporters.

"I am concerned by the run, our goal is to return back to defensive solidarity.

"We're lacking a lot of players. Players are going through different injuries and illnesses.

"I don't want to talk about one player. It's not about one player missing at the moment. It would be unfair to talk about the players that are missing."

Southampton face Cardiff City and Everton before the end of the year, with Chelsea visiting St Mary's Stadium on New Year's Day.
