Arsenal were never among the clubs interested in signing Hamburg starlet Hakan Calhanoglu in January, according to the player's agent.
The Turkish midfielder, who has shone in the absence of Rafael van der Vaart this season, was linked with the Gunners earlier in December, prompting Hamburg sporting director Oliver Kreuzer to insist he was not for sale.

"We never said Arsenal are interested in Hakan," Demirtas told Goal. "They're definitely not among the candidates."
When asked whether there was any chance that Calhanoglu could leave Hamburg in January, he replied: "In football anything can happen. But it is a fact that Hakan is under contract at Hamburg until 2016."
Demirtas revealed that his client's priority is to secure a new contract with Hamburg in the near future, but insists there is no rush to open talks.
"We don't feel any pressure and are not in a hurry to extend the contract," he continued. "It is up to the club to move now and approach us."
