The England international kicked out at Jordon Mutch but referee Neil Swarbrick gave the striker a yellow card
Wayne Rooney scored the opening goal in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City on Sunday but should the striker have been on the pitch following his earlier clash with Jordon Mutch?
The England international was chasing a loose ball on United’s left flank but could not edge ahead of Mutch and instead kicked out at the Cardiff midfielder.
Referee Neil Swarbrick saw the incident but decided to book Rooney, rather than give the striker a straight red card.
"Just watched game back. I agree mine was bad tackle and ref dealt with it," Rooney posted on Twitter after the match.
United boss David Moyes believes Swarbrick made the correct decision by keeping Rooney on the pitch.
"There was a bit of a tussle but I don't think it deserved any more than a yellow card," he said.
But what do you think? Should Rooney have been sent off against Cardiff City, or was the yellow card the correct decision?
