Shortly after completing his summer move to the Premier League, the Denmark international suffered the blow during September's defeat by Newcastle and was forecasted to be out for up to nine months.
"It's unbelievable what happened to Jores. It's really frustrating," Vlaar told the club's official website, "but he's doing great.

"[I know] it's not easy for him because I had the same injury too. He will come back stronger, though, of that I have no doubt. I am sure of it.
"He is giving it everything. Now we have to remain patient for his return.
"He's always smiling. I got great energy from each step, however small. That's because you have the feeling that you're moving on and going forward. That keeps you busy. You focus on that. I am sure Jores is the same.
"There will be a time when something doesn't go the way he wants in his rehab but still you have to go with it. You have to remember you are moving forward always but his attitude is great. He is laughing, joking, talking. That's great to see."
