Poll: Are Liverpool closer to winning the title than Manchester United?

Sir Alex Ferguson claimed Brendan Rodgers' side need eight new players in order to win the Premier League but the 40-year-old says the champions need even more than that

Sir Alex Ferguson’s newly released autobiography has sparked a war of words with a number of people and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is the latest to take umbrage with the former Manchester United manager’s claims.

The 71-year-old heavily criticised the spending Liverpool conducted during Kenny Dalglish’s second reign at Anfield which included the £20 million purchase of Stewart Downing.

The former United boss also claimed Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has never been a “top, top player”.

But when told of Ferguson’s declaration that Liverpool require eight new players to challenge for the Premier League title, Rodgers replied: "That's probably two short of what they need then."

Given Liverpool’s strong start to the season, as well as Manchester United’s inconsistent early form under David Moyes, we are asking you whether Brendan Rodgers’ men are closer to winning the title this season than the reigning champions.
