Southampton success reflects hard work - Pochettino

The south-coast club have taken points off both Liverpool and Manchester United to leave them sixth in the table, and their manager is thrilled with his squad's drive
Mauricio Pochettino has lauded his Southampton squad's industrious nature after a superb start to the Premier League season.

The Saints sit in sixth place on the standings after earning a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Saturday, having conceded only a Premier League-best three times to date.

And Pochettino believes Southampton's high-flying start is the product of a strong work ethic amongst his players.

"From the start of the season, the team has been putting in an amazing effort," he told the Daily Echo.

"They've been having double training sessions every day and it's now, at this time of the season, that we're reaping the benefits of the effort that we put in."

When pressed as to whether Southampton had outclassed United at the weekend, Pochettino added that his side's performance validated the work put in on the training ground.

"That's one of the signs that certifies that we're on the right path," he said.
