Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has played down the excitement surrounding Andros Townsend following his impressive performances for England.
Lambert's side, who sit 10th in the Premier League, host Tottenham on Sunday as the north London outfit look to bounce back from their shock 3-0 home loss to West Ham, with Townsend almost certain to feature.
The 22-year-old won man-of-the-match on his Three Lions debut against Montenegro, and continued to impress in England's victory over Poland on Tuesday night.
"People are jumping on a bandwagon after a handful of games," Lambert told reporters.
"There is great hype. When someone plays one or two games, suddenly he is a world-beater. Gareth Bale did it over a number of games.
"I don’t know the lad Townsend at all, but the last couple of games for England he has played well.
"We won’t take any special precautions. Spurs have a huge, strong squad of top players."
