The Argentine resumed training on Monday and will be in Manuel Pellegrini's squad for Saturday's clash with West Ham, while Vincent Kompany is optimistic over a return
Martin Demichelis is set to make his Manchester City debut against West Ham on Saturday in place of the injured Vincent Kompany, Goal understands.
Demichelis, signed for £3.5 million from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day, has not played for the club after damaging knee ligaments in training only four days after arriving at the Etihad Stadium.
But the Argentine resumed training with the squad on Monday and will be in Manuel Pellegrini's squad for the trip to Upton Park, barring any recurrence of his injury problems.
Kompany was absent with a thigh injury as Belgium secured their place at next summer's World Cup in Brazil with a 2-1 victory away against Croatia on Friday.
It was initially feared the City captain would miss his side's crucial trip to Russia to take on CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on October 23, or the Premier League clash with Chelsea four days later.
But Kompany is optimistic of returning to the side earlier than expected and handing Pellegrini a timely boost ahead of a crucial run of games.
