The Arsenal boss believes the defender will return to first-team action before the end of October, and he hopes to have Santi Cazorla back in action soon

Arsene Wenger has revealed Bacary Sagna is set for a three-week spell on the sidelines following a scan on his hamstring injury.

The north Londoners head into the weekend at the top of the Premier League table and on the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League.

And Wenger had hoped his team emerged largely unscathed from Tuesday’s clash with Rafael Benitez’s men at the Emirates Stadium, but a scan has revealed the extent of Sagna's injury.

"Sagna will not be fit. He has a hamstring injury and will be out for three weeks," he said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's clash with West Brom.

He added: "Everybody else came out of the Napoli game without a major problem so they should all be available."

The Gunners will still be without Santi Cazorla and summer signing Yaya Sanogo, due to injury, but Wenger is confident they will be back in first-team contention soon.

"[Cazorla] is not in contention. But he could be not far after the international break," he added.

"He is [Sanogo] on a good way after his back problem. He will be the same, after the international break."
