Van Persie only makes bench as Rooney captains Manchester United against West Brom

Manchester United have left Robin van Persie on the bench for their clash with West Brom, with Wayne Rooney captaining the side at Old Trafford.

The striker was absent from Sunday's 4-1 loss to Manchester City with a groin strain, while Nemanja Vidic misses out all together.

David Moyes has made six changes from the derby defeat, with Patrice Evra, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Marouane Fellaini and Danny Welbeck all making way.

Meanwhile, Steve Clarke makes two changes from the West Brom side that triumphed 3-0 over Sunderland last Saturday, with Claudio Yacob and Victor Anichebe coming in for James Morrison and Nicolas Anelka.
