Heitinga revelling in Everton life under Roberto Martinez

The Netherlands international has praised the former Wigan manager for his approach to the game and says the changes in the Toffee's playing style have been happily received
John Heitinga has hailed the philosophy and style of football Roberto Martinez is trying to implement at Everton.

While the 29-year-old centre-back was full of praise for former boss David Moyes, who he played under for four years, he says the Toffees' current playing style under their new Spanish manager is a welcome change.

12/1 Everton are 12/1 with Coral to finish in the top four
"Moyes created a lot at Everton, on a smaller scale it may be a bit similar to what Ferguson had done at Manchester United," the Netherlands international told reporters.

"The first team now has a completely new coaching staff and many new players.

"During training we do everything with the ball, much is being done with playmaking. Martinez's Spanish influences are seen immediately. He is a fan of the way Barcelona play and the Dutch School.

"He tries to unite. The combination football that Everton are now playing, I think it's a pleasant change."

Martinez has had a solid start to life at Everton, unbeaten in his first five Premier League games in charge and clocking up an impressive victory over Chelsea.
