As the new season gets back underway this weekend following the international break, Goal asks which players will be competing for the crown of most creative playerPOLL
With a host of new attacking talent descending on the Premier League this summer, plus the established stars already in the division, who will lead the way in creativity by topping the assists leader board come the end of the season?
Chelsea's Juan Mata holds the current crown after setting up 12 goals last season, but the Blues' purchase of Willian and Andre Schurrle, and the return of Kevin de Bruyne from loan, means the Spaniard could fall down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
|9/4||Robin van Persie is 9/4 with William Hill to be the Premier League's top scorer
Another Spaniard, Santi Cazorla, recorded the joint-second most assists last year, while new Arsenal team-mate Mesut Ozil joins the club off the back of setting up an astonishing 81 goals in all competitions in his three years with Real Madrid.
Despite the speculation that continues to surround Wayne Rooney's future, the 27-year-old arguably remains Manchester United's most creative player, with his 10 assists last term unmatched by his Red Devils team-mates – and he already has two this season.
Tottenham, meanwhile, may have lost Gareth Bale but they brought in Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, who created 17 goals in the Eredivisie last season, while unsung hero Aaron Lennon led the club's own assist charts.
Liverpool's Brazilian starlet Coutinho registered an assist every 132 minutes following his January arrival last season, and dazzled in the Reds' pre-season, while Steven Gerrard remains a creative force for the Merseysiders.
HAVE YOUR SAY
Who will lead the Premier League for assists this season? Can Mata hold onto his mantle, or will assist-machine Ozil steal his crown? Can Silva re-find his creativity, and will Rooney be given the game time to show off his talent?
