Manchester United have made a move for Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, Goal understands.
The Premier League champions have registered their interest in the experienced Italy international as they attempt to reinforce their midfield before the window closes next Monday.
Goal has learned that Roma would be willing to sell De Rossi, who turned 30 in July, for around £10 million.

The midfield anchorman, who attracted strong interest from Chelsea earlier in the window, is understood to be interested in a new challenge and testing himself in the Premier League but would prefer a move to London or long-time suitors Real Madrid.
United have turned their attention to De Rossi after failing to land Spanish midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara this summer, while Athletic Bilbao went public with the English club’s £25.6m offer for Ander Herrera on Friday.
Manager David Moyes is still hopeful of completing a deal for Marouane Fellaini even though Everton have rejected combined bids from United for the Belgian and his club colleague Leighton Baines.
Despite having a contract that runs until 2017 and being a huge favourite of supporters at the Serie A club, De Rossi is not as integral to the team after a troubled 2012-13 season in which he lost his regular starting place in the heart of the midfield and the Italian club would welcome the opportunity to shift him from their wage bill.
He is believed to be one of the highest earners in Serie A with a net salary of £5.1m-a-year, equivalent to around £190,000-a-week if taxes were included.
De Rossi, who was the subject of an offer from Manchester City last summer before committing himself to his boyhood club for another campaign, joined Roma at 17 and has spent his entire professional career at the club as well as becoming a key player for the Italy national team.
Roma have already sold Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo to Premier League clubs this summer for fees worth up to £30m and £17m respectively.
