The centre-back headed home a late equaliser against Sunderland, and he says some home truths from his manager spurred the team on after Emanuele Giaccherini's third-minute opener
Fonte headed home a late leveller in Saturday’s Premier League clash at St Mary's after Emanuele Giaccherini had broken the deadlock for the visitors early on.
A first goal since last October for the 29-year-old defender made it four points from a possible six in the opening two games of the season for Southampton, with Fonte relieved as some home truths from Pochettino at the interval sparked a reaction.

"We knew we had to change something because the tempo was too slow in the first half. It's something we need to learn from because it can't happen again."
Jay Rodriguez had an effort disallowed for offside as Southampton responded well to Giaccherini's opener.
Fonte feels Southampton created enough chances overall to win the contest.
He added: "When you go a goal down after two minutes, you have to run after the result.
"It was a very hard game and we weren't at our best – especially in the first half – but I believe we deserved more than just a draw.
"We had the better chances and we created the most opportunities, and we had a couple of penalty shouts."
