The Frenchman missed the Magpies' opener against Manchester City on Monday after being the subject of an offer shortly before the match and manager Alan Pardew has seemingly decided that the midfielder is not yet in a state of mind to return to the team.

Newcastle have made four changes in total to the team who lost 4-0 to Manuel Pellegrini's men, with Steven Taylor among the absentees due to suspension.

Shola Ameobi leads the line alongside Papiss Cisse, while West Ham bench Joe Cole despite the midfielder scoring against Cardiff City in their opening-day victory.
