Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo has admitted he did not need much persuading to leave Sevilla for the Premier League.
The Spain international has become City’s third summer signing and follows Fernandinho and Jesus Navas in moving to the Etihad Stadium.
Negredo says manager Manuel Pellegrini convinced him to come to England and admitted he is looking forward to working with the Chilean.
“He [Pellegrini] phoned me and he explained to me how he envisaged this project,” he told CityTV.
“But I didn’t really need much persuading to come to play in a team like this. But yes, he was convincing.
“Pellegrini’s football is very attacking, attractive, he loves to have ball possession, play a passing game.
“He has accomplished great things in Spain so it will be a pleasure to work with him.”
The new signing is also looking forward to linking up with some of his fellow countrymen at Manchester City.
“Yesterday morning before the official confirmation of my transfer I phoned Jesus Navas and Javi Garcia,” he added.
"They were very happy and I am too. To be team-mates again is great.
“Jesus is a great player. He’s a spectacular player. I hope I can keep scoring with his assists here in this stadium.”
Negredo will bolster the City attack following the departures of Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez and was happy to highlight his versatility.
“I have played in many systems; with two strikers, sometimes one striker and one attacking midfielder,” he said.
“I have also played as a sole striker and three midfield options behind. I have played with many different tactics.
“To be honest what I want is to play as much as I can and help the team.”
