Pardew confirms Newcastle interest in Bent and Remy

The Magpies boss has revealed the club have identified the Aston Villa and QPR forwards as potential striking options as they look to strengthen ahead of the new season
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has revealed Darren Bent and Loic Remy are on the club’s list of potential striking options.

Bent appears to be surplus to requirements at Aston Villa while Loic Remy has been linked with an exit from QPR following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

10/1 Newcastle are 10/1 with Paddy Power to be relegated next season
Pardew is keen to add to his options upfront, having lost Demba Ba to Chelsea in January, and has admitted that both Bent and Remy have caught Newcastle's attention.

"Both of those players are on our list. I make no bones about that," Pardew told the Northern Echo.

"But they are under contract at other clubs. It's difficult, you have to be careful. It's nice for our fans to hear names, but I don't want to disrupt other clubs' preparations.

"We have a list of four or five strikers who will push [Papiss] Cisse, Shola [Ameobi], Adam Campbell and Yoan Gouffran because that will be important next season.

"We do need two strikers. Last year, I didn't think there was enough competition in that area for a Premier League team."
