The 26-year-old defender is looking to burst onto the scene with his new club, and admits he has already sought advice from his compatriot, Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger
The 20-year-old, who has made seven appearances for Denmark, joined the Midlands outfit from Danish side Nordsjaelland.
And with compatriot Daniel Agger also plying his trade in the Premier League at Liverpool, the defender says he takes inspiration from defenders both past and present.
"I really looked up to Marcel Desailly when I was young and I still do," Okore told Aston Villa’s official website.
"He was my favourite player and hopefully I can play like him and bring a lot into the Premier League like he did."
The Ivorian-born defender also revealed he had a talk with Denmark teammate Agger about the demands of the Premier League.
"I talk to him [Agger] about it but we haven't really talk that much and I'm hoping we can get talking before we start the season," Okore continued.
"I have talked to him a little bit about the Premier League and how tough it is to play but he thinks I've got the skill set for making it in this league.
"I do to so that is the only thing that is on my mind.
"I am really looking forward to playing and getting this going and getting the fans inside to see me."
