“I’m a player that gives my all to a team and to a game, I think the fans see that and appreciate it. They like their players to give their all to the cause. I gave my all to every single game.”
The much-travelled 36-year-old has played under his fair share of passionate supporters, having enjoyed spells at Panathinaikos, Inter and Benfica, but rates his time at Fulham as one of the best.
He added: “It can be difficult for a player to move to a new country, during my career it’s something that I have done a few times.
“There’s nothing better for a new player to feel accepted and I had that with both the fans and my teammates from the very start. It’s something that made me feel very proud.
“I gave 100 per cent every time I put on a Fulham shirt, and that is my way of saying thank you to the fans."
