Kleberson, now with MLS side Philadelphia Union, spent two seasons at Old Trafford, and although his time at the club did not overlap with Beckham's, he played all 90 minutes against the midfielder in Brazil's 2-1 World Cup quarter-final win over the Three Lions in 2002 en route to Brazil's last World Cup title.
"I think that football lost two great people that have very big names in soccer," Kleberson told reporters. "A lot of people are going to miss those two guys. They're huge stars in England, and they're idols in the fans' eyes and models for everyone over there.
"They're always going to be remembered."
Kleberson joined Philadelphia as a Designated Player on loan from Brazilian side Bahia in March, in a deal that saw Freddy Adu head the other way.
