"While it was by no means a majority, a fair few more supporters seem to have put themselves in the anti-Rooney camp after Ferguson revealed that he had handed in his second transfer request in three years. Indeed, many booed the striker as he boarded the bus, while others booed rather than join in with other fans who sang his name. It's fair to say there were some unprintable comments made about his loyalty which turned the air blue as united fans made this corner of Manchester a sea of red."

As exclusively revealed by Goal.com, Arsenal and Chelsea have joined the list of suitors for Rooney, who has been put off by the appointment of David Moyes to succeed Ferguson, and he was booed by sections of the Old Trafford support when he collected his Premier League winner's medal on Sunday.
And on Monday, during United's celebratory parade, the 27-year-old was subjected to further vocal signs of discontent from the Red Devils faithful.
Though Ferguson was adamant that the club would hang onto the England striker, his position may become untenable if fan reaction continues to be so vitriolic.
This is not the first time that Rooney has handed in a transfer request and United's retiring boss believes that the former Toffees striker's unhappiness stems from the number of times that he has been substituted this season, while he was also benched for the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.
The forward has started 31 matches for the Red Devils this season, making six further appearances off the bench, scoring 16 goals and registering 13 assists in the process.
Rooney has played 401 games for United during his nine-year association with the club.
