thumbnail Hello,

After Wednesday's draw with Tottenham, the Blues can secure a top-four finish on Saturday, and the midfielder is desperate to make this their last Europa League appearance

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel says things are "crazy" at Stamford Bridge and he will be bitterly disappointed if they miss out on Champions League football next season.

The Blues face a vital few days as interim manager Rafa Benitez aims to secure a top-four finish at Aston Villa on Saturday before they meet Benfica in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has agreed a return to west London, as exclusively revealed by Goal.com, after the Blues have seen a multitude of managerial changes, and Mikel admitted things have been quite extraordinary recently.

"The club is crazy, it is," he told London24. "But we have to keep doing our job. We're players.

"The board, the owners, make the decision and we have to stick by whoever comes in. I don't know what's happening. It seems another manager is going to come in."

Mikel is hoping Chelsea challenge for another Champions League title next season after a disappointing defence this year.

The Blues could make history by becoming the fourth team to win all three major Uefa competitions if they beat Benfica on Wednesday, but the 26-year-old is desperate not to be the tournament next season.

"If we are the in the same final next year, I won't be happy," he added. "The aim of this squad is to play in the Champions League."

Mikel has spent the last five games on the sidelines with a hip injury but is looking for a return to the side in Wednesday's final in Amsterdam, but knows there are no guaranteed places under Benitez.

"I want to play in the final and that's what I intend to do," he added.

"From the start the manager has made his stand - he wants to rotate the team. He's done that. Sometimes it’' worked out, sometimes it hasn't, but that's football.

"I want to get ready for the final. That's why I'm here, to play big games, and hopefully by the final I'll be feeling ready.

"We've come this far, we're in the final, and we want to win it. But you can't compare the Champions League final with the Europa League final."
