The Argentine believes his side have nothing to fear in terms of avoiding the drop, but feels Saints deserved to beat the Champions League chasers at White Hart LaneMauricio Pochettino believes Southampton's performance against Champions League-chasing Tottenham shows his side should have few problems as they look to avoid relegation.
Despite sitting just four points clear of the relegation zone, the Argentine remains relaxed about his side's chances of survival - with a trip to fellow strugglers Sunderland and the visit of Stoke before the season is out.
"We just have to get points from the next two games," Pochettino told reporters.
"We tried with everything we had and we weren’t able to do it but competing the way we did and to perform the way we performed I don’t think we will be in that battle or have problems."
Saints were on top for the majority of the game at White Hart Lane, stifling Tottenham's attacking threat before triple-Year of the Year winner Gareth Bale scored a late winner from 25 yards against his former club.
Pochettino believes his side should have won the game, and bemoaned a lack of luck in front of goal.
He added: "I think it was a cruel defeat because we did enough not only just to draw but to win the game.
"We were lacking that little bit of luck in football you need to succeed. We haven’t had it recently and not again here."
