Pardew dismisses talk of Newcastle rift

The Magpies manager has strongly denied talk of dressing room tensions at St James' Park, and insists the squad are united in their fight to secure Premier League survival
Alan Pardew has reacted angrily to suggestions there is a split in the Newcastle squad, insisting his players remain united in their fight against the drop.

Reports earlier in the week alleged there were divisions between the Magpies’ English players and the sizeable French-speaking contingent, and suggested this was partly to blame for the club's poor recent form.

However, Pardew has dismissed such talk. "Some criticism has been unfounded," he told the Evening Chronicle.

"I just find the accusation insulting. Some of the wildfire has been way off the mark. The group is together.

"The fact we have had language problems has been torn up into something else."
