Chris Hughton's men are six points clear of the relegation zone with three games left, but the Canaries midfielder has warned against getting concentrating on other teams' fortunes

Norwich midfielder Jonny Howson has warned his team-mates not to start looking over their shoulders and instead focus on their own remaining Premier League fixtures.

The Canaries succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke on Saturday, leaving them six points above the relegation zone with three games to play.

Although it looks likely Chris Hughton’s side will be in the Premier League next season, Howson is urging focus in the dressing room and believes the players must not concentrate on the fortunes of the teams around them.

"It's in our hands," he told the club’s official website. "If you start worrying about what other teams have done, that could be the problem because you're relying on other people. We just need to concentrate on ourselves.”

The defeat to the Potters extended Norwich's run to just one win in their last nine league games, but Howson believes the team have made a marked improvement this season under manager Hughton.

"We've changed our style of play this season and been a bit more solid and you can see that, but we had a lapse in concentration and that's cost us," he added.

"We knew they'd be a little more direct and for the large part of the game we have dealt with it. But the moment we didn't do too well, they got the goal. That's what happens at this level.”
