The Tottenham attacker took the trophy ahead of fierce competition from Manchester United and Liverpool strikers Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez, but was he the right choice?
Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale picked up both the PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards on Sunday night, ahead of fierce competition from the likes of Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie, who finished second and third respectively.
The winger-turned-attacking midfielder has wowed crowds with his performances this year, featuring 29 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
But was he the right choice for the award? Since Van Persie's summer move to Old Trafford, the striker has scored 25 league goals as Manchester United won their 20th title, a stunning contribution from the reigning player of the year.
Equally, Luis Suarez has put in some brilliant performances for Liverpool, leading the scoring charts until his inexplicable incident with Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Has Bale's campaign eclipsed all others this year?
What do you think? Was Bale the best player of the season? Was Van Perise's contribution of greater value? Or was Suarez's campaign better?
