Tottenham midfielder Bale named PFA Young Player of the Year

The 23-year-old forward picked up the award ahead of the likes of Eden Hazard and Christian Benteke after a superb season in which he scored 29 goals in all competitions
Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale has been named the PFA's Young Player of the Year.

The 22-goal fended off competition from Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, West Brom forward Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere to secure the award.

This is Bale's second individual PFA award after he picked up the PFA Player of the Year in 2010/2011 ahead of Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez and Rafael van der Vaart.

The Wales international, who has scored 19 goals in 29 Premier League matches this term, has been a key player in Tottenham’s push for a Champions League place.
