thumbnail Hello,

The 20-year-old managed just four appearances in the league before ankle ligament damage cut his DW Stadium stay short, but he still feels he learnt much from Roberto Martinez

Arsenal youngster Ryo Miyaichi says his loan spell at Wigan helped him to grow up, but has seemingly ruled out a similar stint next season.

The 20-year-old joined the Latics last August after an attention-grabbing six-month spell at Bolton, but managed just four substitute Premier League appearances before ankle ligament damage ended his season prematurely.

Nevertheless, Miyaichi feels he is learnt much from Wigan boss Roberto Martinez, and hopes to use any experience gained to impress Arsene Wenger once he has returned to full fitness.

"They have a good attitude and a good philosophy for football," Ryo told the club's official website. "The manager is a very good man and it was a very good experience for me.

"Most of the time I was injured. I couldn't play a lot of games and I couldn't show my quality.

"It was disappointing for me but I'm so appreciative to the Wigan supporters, the Wigan manager and the Wigan players. It was a very good experience.

"Being there helped me to grow up. As a person, I'm growing up every day.

"When I was at Wigan the training was very good and the people are very kind so I got some good experience there. I feel I'm improving but I need to keep working hard."

Martinez has previously spoken out over his desire to keep Miyaichi for a second term at the DW Stadium, declaring the Japan international will have "an incredible future" in football.

The attacker expressed his gratitude to the Spaniard for his remarks, but admitted his sole aim is to make an impression at Arsenal during pre-season.

"It's great to hear that [kind of compliment] and I'm so appreciative," Ryo added. "I'm always ready to play for Arsenal. It's my dream to play for Arsenal. First of all, I have to recover as soon as possible. Then I want to show my quality when I get fit.

"My ankle is getting better so I'm comfortable at the moment. My target is to be [on the Asia tour] so I think I can be fit in pre-season."
