Following Manchester United's Premier League triumph on Monday, the captain believes beating Wigan on May 11 will determine the success of their campaign
A Robin van Persie first-half hat-trick against Aston Villa saw the Red Devils reclaim the title from their cross-city rivals after City had fallen to a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.
And Kompany has now pinpointed May’s FA Cup showpiece against Wigan, insisting City’s season "depends" on winning silverware.

"But our season also depends on our result in the [FA] Cup final and we shouldn't forget that.
City have won eight and drawn one of their previous nine encounters against Wigan in all competitions, but Kompany is still urging caution following the Latics’ impressive display in their 1-0 loss at the Etihad Stadium on April 17.
"Wigan play good football, their coach is Spanish, and they play in a system which is unique in the Premier League," he continued.
"They play 3-5-2, which means you have little time to get organised or get re-organised against a team like that. There's a risk, but we were woken up when we played earlier this month and there won't be a surprise this time."
