thumbnail Hello,

The 27-year-old is hopeful the Magpies, currently six points clear, can avoid relegation if they continue to perform as they did in their recent 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns

Steven Taylor believes Newcastle will be able to ensure Premier League survival if they replicate the performance they produced at West Brom.

The Magpies steadied the ship after their 3-0 Tyne-Wear derby humiliation to Sunderland with an improved performance at the Hawthorns, Yoan Gouffran giving them a lead which was cancelled out by a Billy Jones' equaliser.

Newcastle now sit six points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play, and Taylor feels they can secure their top-flight status if they continue to show the resolve displayed last weekend.

"You don't get many chances when you come to West Brom. We caused them some problems, and they found it difficult to break through. Their fans were getting frustrated," Taylor told The Evening Chronicle.

"Everybody needs to perform like that again. I don't think we'll go too far wrong. We just need to keep that in the team. We must give the fans what they deserve, and that's 100% commitment.

"You look at any Newcastle fan and you can see their hurt [after the Sunderland game]. It hurt everybody. Now we hope that West Brom has lifted everybody and we can get back to winning ways against Liverpool."
