After finishing fifth last season, Newcastle's league form has suffered under the strain of mounting injury concerns and inconsistent performances from players.
Pardew, though, believes the Europa League has been the root of his squad's problems this term with the vastly increased fixture commitments stretching a thin selection of players.
"This was our 50th game, which goes a little bit unnoticed – 50 professional games, and all the travelling involved as well, that's tough," the manager continued.
"Clubs will look at us and see the impact the competition has had. It’s not only the games, but the injuries on the back of it."
