Manchester United aiming for record points total, says Evra

Chelsea currently hold the league high of 95 points but, with six matches left to play, the France international feels that the Red Devils have every opportunity to make history
Manchester United defender Patrice Evra insists that the Red Devils will do all they can to win all of their remaining matches and set a new record points total.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men sit at the top of the Premier League table with 80 points, 15 ahead of second-placed Manchester City and they have six matches before the end of the season.

The current record for points in a single season belongs to Chelsea, who managed an impressive 95 in 2005, but Evra believes the amount of matches United have to play gives them ample opportunity to put the team in the history books.

"[Sir Alex] is a winner," the France international told reporters. "He has just told us to win the six games that are left. He said before the Stoke City game that the season starts now.

"That shows you the way he wants to win this 20th title. He told us not to think about the title, just think about winning those remaining games.

"We can still break the record. That is what he wants. He just wants to win game after game.

"The challenge for us is to win the six games that we have left. It won't be easy, but that is the way the boss wants us to play."
