thumbnail Hello,

The Spurs centre-back was hoping to make only his second appearance of the season on Sunday but was withdrawn during an Under-21s game on Monday and returns to rehabilitation

Tottenham have confirmed that defender Younes Kaboul has suffered a thigh strain just as he neared a return to first-team action.

The French centre-back had, as reported by Goal.com on Monday, been aiming for a place in the squad to face Manchester City on Sunday and took part in an Under-21s game that evening against Manchester United to build up his fitness.

However, Kaboul was withdrawn during that match and scans have now revealed a Grade One strain.

Spurs declared on their official website that the defender "will now continue his rehabilitation with our medical team, who will monitor his progress".

Kaboul has played only one first-team game so far in 2012-13 thanks to continuing injury troubles and had returned to contact training in March in the hopes of putting it behind him.
