Aston Villa winger N'Zogbia would have no qualms about relegating former club Wigan

The Frenchman, who played for the Latics for two years before moving to Villa Park, has stressed that he is only focussed on guaranteeing safety with the Villans

Aston Villa winger Charles N’Zogbia insists he would not regret relegating former club Wigan if it meant his current club stayed in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old faces the Latics on the final day of the season in a game that could decide which side goes down, with Villa just three points above 18th-placed Wigan, who have two games in hand on their rivals.

"I don't think I'd feel awkward if I had to go back to Wigan and maybe send them down," the attacker told Sky Sports.

"I play for Villa now, I hope we can stay up and we'll do all we can to do that."

N’Zogbia joined the Latics in January 2009 and played a key role in their Premier League survival in successive seasons before his move to Villa in 2011.

"You have to block out everything else and focus on yourself," he explained.

"No matter who I play against, I just want to be happy at the end of the season. It's always better to be safe before the last game, we have five games left.

"At the end of the league we'll see the points and we'll know what's going to happen."
